Meet Mrs. Heather D. Sanders (also affectionately known as "The Wizard")
Greetings! My name is Heather Sanders, and I'm delighted to begin my second year as an ACA Griffin! This is my 15th year in education! I'm a proud Texas Aggie (Whoop!) and have spent the majority of my career teaching 8th grade Pre-AP ELA. After several years of "techie-teaching" in my ELA classroom, I made the move towards spending my time helping other teachers become "techies," and came to ACA as their Instructional Technology Specialist. While I spend a lot of time curating and sharing resources, developing technology training materials, and presenting staff development sessions, I'm fortunate in that I get to also be in the classroom with your wonderful sons & daughters in Technology class.
When I manage to drag myself away from my laptop, I LOVE hanging out with my wonderful family - my husband of 15 years, Chad, my two kids (ages 13 and 11), and our awesome Aussies, Ace & Abby. Together we snow ski, hike, camp, and rock climb! On my own, I'm a runner, a reader, a cupcake baker, and a performer with the Mainstage Classics Theatre in Mansfield.
I am a firm believer that the learning happens in the struggle, so I maintain high expectations in my classroom and push my students to always, always be seekers of knowledge and therefore lifelong learners. It's going to be a great year!
